My current phone is an Apple iPhone 3G. My contract finished in August 2009 and I have been patiently waiting for the new iPhone to be spec’d and released.
When I first got the phone, like everyone else, I fell in love with it immediately. It was a totally different experience to use than with any other phone I’d used. I then read about many of the abilities that jailbreaking can add. My personal favourites are SBSettings and LockInfo. These two (among others) add functionality that should have been in the iPhone OS from the start.
I then started reading about Android based phones, but the hardware was unappealing. Work then purchased a Google Nexus One for development use, and immediately I fell for this. It has many of the abilities that jailbreaking gave my iPhone and the screens are so much nicer to look at. I had a play with it and now I want an Android based phone.
In the UK, in my opinion, there are only two handsets to choose from. The Google Nexus One or the HTC Desire. Both are similar phones but I decided on the Desire. The best phone I have seen in the UK thus far is the HTC HD2, but this runs Windows Mobile and isn’t going to support Windows Phone 7, so I’d be out of date quickly with this one (plus its not Android).
Reading the many sites I do about Android, I learnt of the HTC EVO, which is currently on going to be available in the US, but sounds like the best Android phone ever! For starters it acts as a mobile access point so I can connect my laptop to it for mobile internet and it has a similar screen to the HD2 (plus other goodies!!).
Then I learn about the HTC Incredible (again no mention of a UK release thus far). This brings 8MP camera and 8GB storage into the fold.
My problem is…. do I wait for these to maybe/maybe not be released or do I just go for the Desire???
I’ve clearly got some thinking to do….
